Stig’s commandment – Limit/eliminate the sugar in your diet (video)

Stig talks about sugar
‘In 1850 we only ate half a kilo of sugar per year. It was really just a lump of sugar in people’s daily coffee. Now it’s just under 50 kilos per person per year’, says Stig about how sugar consumption has changed.

Over-consumption of calorie-dense and refined foods, especially sugar, creates major health problems and leads to obesity and disease. A lot of foods that we eat on a daily basis contain high levels of sugar – this applies to everything from cereal to yogurt. Sugar can occur either naturally, for example the fructose in fruit, or be added. Stig urges in his book ‘Choose health’ to check the sugar content on the packaging in the store. In addition, he advises to minimise the intake of sugary foods such as bread, pastries, pasta, boiled white rice and warm root vegetables.
